Stair and landing coatings for busy buildings
Stairwells see constant traffic and are hard to close. We coat concrete stairs and landings with durable, slip-resistant systems and plan the work so the building keeps moving.
Built for treads, risers and landings
Concrete stairwells in condos, multi-residential buildings, offices, schools and hospitals often start as bare or painted concrete. Paint wears off the treads first, and the edges chip. We grind or abrade each tread, riser and landing, repair chipped nosings and cracks, then apply a coating system suited to the traffic. Options include solid colour epoxy, flake, quartz and fast-curing polyaspartic topcoats.
Grip and visible edges
Every tread gets an anti-slip texture built into the coating. The front edge of each step can be finished in a contrasting colour, either as a coated band or with a separate nosing, so each step edge is easy to see. Landings can match the treads or get a different colour to mark the change from stair to landing.
Working in occupied buildings
Stairwells are often exit routes, so closures need planning. We coordinate with property managers and condo boards, post notices, and phase the work so another stairwell stays available. Where the layout allows, we coat alternate steps or half the width at a time so a stair can stay partly in use.
Ventilation is set up for each stairwell, and where odour is a concern we discuss product options and schedule those steps for off-hours. Our crews carry commercial liability insurance, are WSIB compliant, and are trained in WHMIS, First Aid and Worker Health & Safety Awareness.
Safer, cleaner stairs
A textured coating on every tread and a contrasting edge on each nosing make steps easier to see and safer to use.
We work stairwell by stairwell so occupied buildings always keep a route open.

Stair & Landing Coatings FAQ
Can you coat stairs that are already painted?
If the paint is well bonded, we test adhesion, abrade it and coat over it. Paint that is peeling or worn through on the treads has to come off first, or the new coating will fail along with it.
How long is a stairwell out of service?
It depends on the system, the number of flights and whether the work can be phased. Fast-curing systems can shorten closures. We give you a schedule during the site assessment so you can notify residents or staff.
Can you repair broken step edges?
Yes. Chipped or broken nosings are rebuilt with repair mortar before coating, so the edge is square and solid under the new finish.
How do I get a price?
Stair projects vary too much for an instant estimate, so we price them after a site assessment. Call (647) 917-6441 or email info@delaga.ca to book one.
